Featured Artist auf der QuiltCon 2023 war Chawne Kimber @cauchycomplete, eine afroamerikanische Quilterin, Mathematikerin und Dekanin an einer Universität in einem Mittelatlantikstaat. Kimber stammt aus einer Familie von Baumwollbauern und Quilterinnen in Alabama. Sie lässt sich von den Quilts ihrer Vorfahren inspirieren und interpretiert traditionelle Formen auf moderne Art. Chawne Kimbers Quilts haben eine starke politische oder persönliche Aussage.

Featured Artist at QuiltCon 2023 was Chawne Kimber @cauchycomplete, an African-American quilter, mathematician and university dean in a mid-Atlantic state. Kimber comes from a family of cotton farmers and quilters in Alabama. Inspired by the quilts of her ancestors, she reinterprets traditional forms in a modern way. Chawne Kimber's quilts have a strong political or personal message.

Laut Modern Quilt Guild hingen dieses Jahr über 600 Quilts in der Ausstellung. Mich auf ein paar Dutzend davon zu beschränken, um sie hier auf dem Blog zu zeigen, war unglaublich schwer. Am liebsten hätte ich noch viel mehr Arbeiten vorgestellt, aber das hätte den Rahmen gesprengt. Hier kommt sie nun also, die nicht definitive, unsortierte, unkommentierte Auswahl meiner QuiltCon 2023 Lieblingsquilts. QuiltCon Recap: According to the Modern Quilt Guild, there were more than 600 quilts in the exhibition this year. Limiting myself to feature a few dozen of them here on my blog was incredibly difficult. I would have liked to present many more, but I had to stop at one point.
